How to Clean Silver-Plated Jewellery

Q - How do I clean my silver-plated jewellery?

A - One way is to simply buff with a smooth cloth or use silver paste or polish.

If the tarnish is all over, using gentle hand or dish soap, create a smooth paste by pouring a small amount in your palms; rub together to create a creamy paste and then rub gently all over the jewelry. Add a bit of water to create lather and rub gently for about 10 seconds. Rinse with cool water and then pat dry. 

If the tarnish is in hard to reach crevices, bring a pot of water to boil, add a couple of tablespoons of baking soda and a piece of aluminum foil - a very safe process. Drop jewellery in the boiling water for 10 seconds. Longer if the If the tarnish is not fully gone, leave a bit longer. Remove and thoroughly dry. 

Q - What is harmful to silver-plated, gold plated and semi-precious stones and pearls?

 A - Hairspray, perfume, suntan lotions, skin creams and lotions contain alcohol and other chemicals that can seriously damage or ruin the jewellery.  Apply all products well before and let them thoroughly dry before putting on our jewellery.
